So far I've went through all the versatile and aggressor characters on HCM and confirmed I have all of them backed up. I'm pretty sure I have most of, if not all of, the victims backed up too. Just let me know if someone wants to make a server, discord, whatever, and I can help restore characters. :)

If you can, the best way to let me know is to make a post about it on the furry mugenites Discord.

*new person* My message is being detected as spam for some reason so I will submit in parts.

I have found a browser extension used for web archiving called Webrecorder ArchiveWeb.page. site here: https://webrecorder.net/archivewebpage/
It's rather easy to use, but tedious for our case. I had to manually click on every link I wanted to archive.

So far, I have archived as much of the character pages that I can. For all 724 characters on the website, I've archived each char's page, download page, and the actual char file. I've also archived the origins and aggresor/victim/etc. search boxes. I couldn't find a way to make the search box for keywords work. HOWEVER, we can use the extension's archive viewer and search for keywords there. The file for all characters turned out to be 12.5 GB. It's being uploaded right now.

While we wait, here is a smaller demo version: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qoz7SU ... sp=sharing After downloading the WACZ file, you can put it, or any WACZ file into https://replayweb.page/ and choose file to view it. The downloads for the last few characters when sorted by date should be working.

I have also archived everything else on the site besides chars and stages, like home, about us, etc.:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YR2Ukb ... sp=sharing

I myself will archive all of the 344 stage pages as I have done with the characters. It's more of the same thing basically. It just will take a while like the chars have.

THE FORUM IS STILL NOT TAKEN CARE OF!! I NEED YOUR HELP!!

I'm not really sure what to do about the forum. I haven't really used it before, and don't know how to prioritize stuff. I'm guessing resources and tutorials should get archived first? Most likely not everything will get saved, depending on how many see this and work with me. Again, every link has to be manually clicked at least if we're using this extension. The extension lets us combine WACZ files using import, so if we somehow divide up the forum, we can make a forum archive WACZ file. We should make an effort to reply quickly and make our replies concise/efficient.

I will be archiving stages in the meantime.

Update on forum archiving: I tried out HTTrack https://www.httrack.com/ for a bit and found out that it works without having to click on every individual link. I think WAIL http://matkelly.com/wail may also work. Other tools if needed are listed here under "Website Archiving Tools"https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/wi ... ving_tools

update: all characters file is finished. https://drive.google.com/file/d/17VPzRu ... sp=sharing

This is great, but it might be better to split the content into multiple packages—perhaps based on character type (victim/aggressor) or by character name.

You don't need to make a backup of the forum itself if you don't want to. The tutorial will be up to date when the new site is up and running, and maybe would be written on the main page as "tutorial". The Forum will still be made, just waiting on the updates from the web dev who is Tetchi that is working on it. At the mean time, I'm limited on what information I can give out, or how the site will be functioning
I visit this forum when I remember I exist!

I'm not sure about this. If you use my file, then you can choose the character type using the search box like you would on the actual site, without having to switch between multiple files. And making a new file for each character would not be efficient at all.

Yeah but, all of the old stuff would be gone. I'm especially interested in preserving material on how to make new characters and stuff like that.

All stages have been archived. Will post link when finished uploading.

In efforts to archive this site I've done well over 1,000 captchas which was the most tedious part for me. I want a bit of rest, and then I'm going to try some things to archive the forum.

EDITED
I should also mention that I have manually downloaded all characters and stages (that's what I solved captchas for) so in the case that WACZ files downloads don't work then there is another option. The main purpose for archiving the site using WACZ was to get all the other info, like compatibility, character info, preview images, etc.

Your enthusiasm is commendable, thank you.

I'd like to share some of what's happening: a website is being developed, but it's not a repository or an HCM clone. It's a site we hope will attract enthusiasts of this genre.

Now, as we all know, the site contains diverse and interesting data. Your proposal is good, but the forum is a much larger undertaking—over 5,000 messages. Okay, you're going to start; it will serve as a reference and complement to what will be in the project.

Well, I have nothing more to add, and for now, I'll just wait for your valuable visit to the project we'll be sharing.

By the way, do you have any hosting providers you think might work for this project? There are some servers in Eastern Europe, but they don't inspire confidence. I found one in Tobago, but... the previous ones don't have a free version, so even though they seem like a good option, the cost is a deal-breaker.

Cloudflare has a free version, but I haven't yet checked if it supports PHP. For the content industry, they don't have any issues.

Do you know of any other options, or do you recommend Cloudflare? Or perhaps the same one HCM uses?
