I see a few screenshots telling you to mash X and Z or a red button in arcade style
well, in normal MUGEN, I can't seem to break free from the animation
in my case, there are some enemies in arcade that will start an animation that can't be canceled until I get KOs
I have about 500 characters, so I don't wanna have to rebuild my select.def if I can

The struggle mechanic is tied to the agressor, not the victim. An example of what the OP is talking about is Gettag's ToBF where the "victim" has a change to "tap out" of the animation.
